A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Reverend Albert L.Hezekiah Hyche is the illustrious servant-leader and presiding elder of the newly-formed (in 2009) Montgomery – Selma District of the new Alabama River Region Conference in the Ninth Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church, where the Right Reverend James Levert Davis is Presiding Prelate and Servant Bishop. Accepting his call into the ministry in 1976, Presiding Elder Hyche completed theological studies at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), Atlanta, Georgia, earning a Masters of Divinity Degree.

He holds an undergraduate degree in Education from Stillman College, Tuscaloosa, Alabama with further studies in Adult Education from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama in Adult Education.
A retired Principal Administrator/Master Teacher for Adult Education with the Birmingham City Board of Education, Presiding Elder Hyche is a strong advocate for Christian and leadership development education. Prior to his appointment to the newly-formed Alabama River Region Conference and the Montgomery – Selma District (the conference’s sole presiding elder district), Presiding Elder Hyche led the Birmingham – Florence District of the North Alabama Conference from November 1997 to November 2009. While presiding over the Birmingham – Florence District, Presiding Elder Hyche led several innovation educational and leadership development program for clergy, laity and young people.
Presiding Elder Hyche’s admirable blend of spiritual leadership and personal reliability coupled with a great team of pastors and laity brings Glory to God. His favorite sayings:
